Day 3.0
This was game day in Vancouver. The three of us (Gibran, Kait and I) watched Russia vs. Finland women's hockey – Finland takes the bronze in the Olympics so it was nice to see them play! We started off the morning going downtown and lining up to get into the Olympic Superstore – it was a long line but it moved quite quickly!
In the Olympic store Kait and I were scheming to see if we could snag us some of those stylish scarves everyone was wearing around town. Before we could act upon any of our scheming there was a brand new shipment that came in! We were set – both of us fully decked out in Canada gear by this point.
Note to everyone: scarves, toques, mitts, and sweaters are probably not appropriate in double digit weather – but we sure did look awesome with the gear!
We made it to the hockey game and had an amazing time at the hockey game. The energy in the arena was unreal – I'm so glad I had an opportunity to experience an Olympic game even if it wasn't a Canadian team. We met two younger girls who were like mini-me's to Kait and I, it was pretty cute. They definitely had the same attitude as us!
After the hockey game, we went back to my place for some drinks, then went out for sushi, and then headed downtown to the Irish House. Luckily the line up to the Irish house was non-existent (unlike the Holland house!). Here Kait and I learnt another lesson – Olympic Mitts aren't just for keeping your hands warm in 15 degree weather but also to sneak beer into a pub – turns out they fit perfectly in the mitts.
