Homelessness has been a big part of my life spent in Vancouver. It’s something that I had to get used to over time and eventually just acknowledged it as being a part of my every day life. Vancouver has struggled managing homelessness for years and it continues to be an issue that they deal with every year.
This week a group of students at UBC sacrificed basic necessities in an attempt to draw attention to the issue in Vancouver. The students that participated lived without shelter and disposable income for the entire school week; all food and drinks were donated by people stopping by. I admire them for having the courage to experience first hand the trials and tribulations of being homeless.
