I didn’t take this picture today (trust me I did take one although it is currently with Kara and may be posted if it turned out ok).

Kara and I started our day at the UBC Photosoc printing off our pictures for the gallery next week. It’s a pretty exciting moment for me because I honestly never thought it would happen. Each member of the club is encouraged to submit 5 photos which will be displayed in the student union building starting next Tuesday.

As I was printing my pictures all of the students at the club were commenting on how dark/morbid my photos were. I didn’t realize how true this was until they were all together; mannequins, a crow, a haunted looking armoury, and a gloomy beach shot. This photo was my odd one out. I took it on a walk on Main St and obviously had to stop to take a picture. Flowers always stand out to me because all of them are unique, this one in particular was the only iris that was in bloom. I admire the strength that plants have even in the poor, gloomy, snowy conditions.

I’m proud of the photos that Kara and I submitted for the gallery and it was a proud moment for both of us this morning. I know I have a long way to go but I have to admit I look forward to every moment I’m holding my camera. It’s been great capturing everyday life out here in Vancouver this year.

Here is the picture I was going to post. I decided not to change the picture of the day but did promise to upload it.
