#6 - Run a Marathon

End of Race (1 of 1)

Well it’s official, Carolyn and I have completed a marathon. Yep, that’s right all 42.2 kms of it. Somehow, someway we did it.

I knew this race was going to be hard but nothing could have prepared me for what we experienced today. Every single kilometer after the halfway mark pushed you mentally and physically. With every step my mind kept psyching me out just saying that I wouldn’t be able to do it. I remember running a bit with my eyes closed because I couldn’t stand seeing those kilometer markers climb so slowly.

I really struggled the last 12 kms and my knees struggled even more. I can’t say that I remember even running the last leg of the race but somehow that finish line appeared. Thanks to everyone at the end for being there to celebrate the accomplishment. I can’t believe I actually finished it!

I admire every single person who took on the challenge and crossed that finish line. Whether it was their first 5km race or their 10 marathon every single person out there was inspiring.  I’m glad people were there to encourage me to dig deep and keep on going because I really don’t think that I would have been able to do it without them!

“Pain is temporary, pride is forever”. If this is true, I wonder how temporary the pain is. It would be nice to be able to walk before my grad.
