Abbers on Halloween. She scared a few kids and had to be put in the penalty box a few times but overall we had a pretty funny Halloween.

It seems that kids don’t enjoy Halloween as much as my friends and I did back when we were actually allowed to go trick or treating. It’s kind of sad to see the tradition slowly dying in our city. I’ll still find it pretty special at least!

Went to the new Telus Sparks Science Centre today. It is a beautiful addition to our city and I have to admit it was fun being a kid again and learning there. If you haven’t gone yet, try and make an appearance! It won’t disappoint.

New washer and dryer set. Our old ones kicked the bucket and have been replaced by these shiny new ones.

Order: Mine, Justin's, My Mom’s

I finally got to carve a pumpkin! I’ve been waiting the last four years to be able to be at home and carve a pumpkin like I used to do! I saw pictures all over facebook of people carving them so I had to do mine too (even though it’s a little premature). This was the practice round because we aren’t sure if they will actually make it until Halloween.

Since I’ve been old enough to drive I’ve had the mini van (the minner, Bertha, The Loser Cruiser). 302,000 kms later she’s retiring. This morning I cleaned her up with Abby sitting in her usual spots preparing for our last good-byes.

I know I should be excited to say farewell to my van but we’ve had some pretty good memories since day one. Abby and I both can’t believe that she has reached her expiry date. It’s sad to say good bye but we both know it’s the right thing to do.

Farewell Bertha, you will be missed. You’ve been a great van!

Apparently she only has 5% of her vision left (according to the vet). I disagree. There is no way a dog can chase a laser pointer for hours having minimal vision.

I can’t. The easiest statement in the human language. The hardest sentence to mentally overcome. I can’t.

After my triathlon, I’ve been scared to swim lengths. I can’t has come out of my mouth more times than I can count when trying to get back out there to start swimming again. Last week, I started swimming and have set a goal to go twice a week in preparation for triathlon club.

My goal: Work through my back and knee problems (thanks marathon!), improve my front crawl, and work towards a half ironman for next summer. When I write my goals down I feel like I’m held accountable. My ‘I can’ts’ turn into I will and I want to.

Tonight I recruited my sister and my mom to come swimming with me. Both of them are amazing swimmers and are there to support me and help me improve my stroke. It’s nice to have a little support in the swimming pool. I was happy to say that all the Fesko’s shared a lane tonight!

My sad sad dog getting a bath. Since the day we picked her up almost 11 years ago so has hated baths. You can tell in her eyes that she doesn’t want to smell good. Vet tomorrow, she’s not going to be happy with me.

Went to Carseland this morning to take some pictures with my Dad. It was –1 when we got there so quite different than what I was used to in Croatia. I remembered how to bundle up quite quickly.
