One last night at Granville Island. Hopefully I will visit again in the future.

#6 - Run a Marathon
Well it’s official, Carolyn and I have completed a marathon. Yep, that’s right all 42.2 kms of it. Somehow, someway we did it.
I knew this race was going to be hard but nothing could have prepared me for what we experienced today. Every single kilometer after the halfway mark pushed you mentally and physically. With every step my mind kept psyching me out just saying that I wouldn’t be able to do it. I remember running a bit with my eyes closed because I couldn’t stand seeing those kilometer markers climb so slowly.
I really struggled the last 12 kms and my knees struggled even more. I can’t say that I remember even running the last leg of the race but somehow that finish line appeared. Thanks to everyone at the end for being there to celebrate the accomplishment. I can’t believe I actually finished it!
I admire every single person who took on the challenge and crossed that finish line. Whether it was their first 5km race or their 10 marathon every single person out there was inspiring. I’m glad people were there to encourage me to dig deep and keep on going because I really don’t think that I would have been able to do it without them!
“Pain is temporary, pride is forever”. If this is true, I wonder how temporary the pain is. It would be nice to be able to walk before my grad.

4 kms in and feeling good. 38 kms to go.
We’ll be part of the ‘1/10 of 1% of the population” who have finished one.. I’m ready for the adventure. Can we make it? Absolutely.
“We are different, in essence, from other men. If you want to win something, run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.” - Emil Zatopek

My flower pots for the front steps. It’s a good thing everything is drought tolerant because water is only coming from the rain barrel.

I was a bit rushed at the end of the class so ended up with this! I would definitely pay more attention to little details if this wasn’t a practice cake. The transportation of my cake without a container also made for an interesting cake as well!
My Moms cake is the top one. You could tell she put a little more effort into making it! I suppose we all have to learn from our mistakes.

A historic building in the East Village in Calgary. This is looking like it will be a nice place to live when it’s all finished.

Back in school but this time for cake decorating. With all that sugar I still almost fell asleep, some things never change no matter how interesting the class.

First day at Waste and Recycling. Learning how to do this properly; I don’t want to be that girl that contaminates the blue bin.
Interesting fact: compostable cutlery that ends up in the landfill doesn’t actually decompose and lets off more methane gas than regular plastic cutlery. Interesting.
Side note: The Calgary Folk Fest is exempt from this because they actually ‘compost’ these properly.

My piece of Vancouver right here in Calgary.
It’s been a tough first week being back but I’ve managed to pull through. It’s always hard to finish a chapter in your life when you aren’t quite ready to move on. Thank you to everyone who has helped me transition.
